Your data stays on your device by default. We don't collect it. We don't sell it. SilentProof is designed to give you control over your noise evidence—not us.

Privacy at a Glance
Overview
SilentProof ("the app," "we," "us") helps you document noise disturbances with professional-grade evidence. We built it with privacy as a core principle, not an afterthought.
This policy explains what data the app accesses, how it's stored, and what choices you have about your information.
Data Collection
The app collects the following data types, which remain on your device unless you enable iCloud sync:
Audio Data
- Microphone recordings:Audio recordings are captured when you actively start evidence collection
- Decibel measurements:Real-time sound level readings during monitoring
All audio data is stored locally and never transmitted to external servers
Location Data
- GPS coordinates:Captured at the start of evidence recording to document where the noise occurred
- Address information:Reverse geocoded from GPS coordinates for report generation
Location data is only collected when you start recording and is stored locally
Local Storage
The app stores the following data locally on your device:
- Noise evidence recordings (audio files)
- Decibel measurement samples and statistics
- Evidence metadata (date, time, location, notes)
- Generated PDF reports
- App preferences and settings
- In-app purchase records
This information:
- • Never leaves your device unless you explicitly share it or enable iCloud sync
- • Is deleted automatically if you uninstall the app (local data only)
iCloud Sync (Pro Feature)
Pro users can optionally enable iCloud sync to back up their evidence across their Apple devices:
- What syncs:Evidence metadata, decibel samples, and audio recordings
- Where it's stored:Your personal iCloud account (Apple's CloudKit)
- Who can access it:Only you, through devices signed into your Apple ID
- How to disable:Toggle off "iCloud Sync" in Settings at any time
Important: We do not have access to your iCloud data. This feature uses Apple's end-to-end encrypted CloudKit infrastructure.
Data We Don't Collect
SilentProof is designed to protect your privacy. We explicitly do NOT collect:
- ✗Personal identifying information
- ✗Contact information or phone numbers
- ✗Usage analytics or behavioral data
- ✗Device identifiers for tracking
- ✗Advertising or marketing data
- ✗Third-party service integrations
- ✗Social media or account linking
- ✗Crash reports or error logging
Data Sharing
We do not share, sell, or transmit your data to third parties.
Your recordings and evidence reports are only shared when you explicitly choose to export or email them. This sharing happens directly from your device—we never act as an intermediary.
Your Rights and Controls
Access and Export
All your data is directly accessible within the app. You can export any recording or report at any time.
Deletion
Delete individual recordings within the app, or uninstall SilentProof to remove all local data.
iCloud Control
Enable or disable iCloud sync at any time in Settings. Disabling sync does not delete existing iCloud data.
App Permissions
🎤 Microphone Access
Required to measure decibel levels and record audio evidence. You can revoke this permission in iPhone Settings, but the app won't function without it.
📍 Location Access
Used only when starting a recording to document incident location. You can choose "Ask Next Time" to control when location is captured.
Security Measures
- Local encryption:All local data is protected by iOS's built-in encryption when your device is locked
- iCloud encryption:Data synced to iCloud uses Apple's end-to-end encryption standards
- No network transmission:Recordings never leave your device except through iCloud or when you manually share them
Children's Privacy
SilentProof is not directed at children under 13. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:
- Posting the new privacy policy on this page
- Updating the "Last updated" date at the top
- Providing an in-app notification for significant changes
